For the tennis players, the ORCC has six Rubico clay courts all of which
are lighted for night play. The Tennis and Squash facilities are located
across the street from the Club House on Gum Hollow Road. The courts are in
a wooded setting and are very private. Our tennis season starts in April
with doubles ladder play, which includes both women and men. Friday evenings
and Sunday afternoons are times for more social type mixed doubles play. The
courts are playable year round and are maintained by the Club on a daily
basis (weather permitting). The ORCC courts are some of the finest rubico
courts in the Knoxville area.
The ORCC women have participated in the Greater Knoxville Tennis Association
(GKTA) summer league for several years.
The Squash Club is a small but very active part of the ORCC. The members
represent a wide range of skill levels and maintain a competitive challenge
ladder year round. Several of the Squash Club members participate regularly
in national tournaments and have attained national rankings.
We would also like to point out the benefits of playing this great
game, especially on clay surfaces, such as those at ORCC. Click on the links
below to read about these important benefits.
